THE ALLOTMENT

This project follows three months at the beginning of 2022. Using drawing and textiles alongside each other to record stories, images, and feelings gathered from time spent on the allotment. The project has developed intuitively, with time spent digging, building, sewing, and drawing. Saskia has discovered that some activities on the allotment produce the same feelings of wellbeing as some textile activities. Saskia has looked at the details of her plot and at the whole site as a community. Modern lives are busy and filled with many commitments and distractions, linking and integrating her final major project and the allotment has created a feeling of balance, the activities do not distract from each other.
